Outstanding Performances at the Allen Urch Memorial Open Meet

Mansfield delivered a superb all round performance at the Allen Urch Open Meet held on the 17th May at Alfreton Leisure Centre, hosted by Sutton Swim Club. With 230 swims, an impressive 90 personal bests, and a remarkable 170 medals, our swimmers put on a fantastic performance across all age groups.

The medal haul included 44 first places, 35 second places, 30 third places, 27 fourth places, 17 fifth places and 17 sixth places in individual events, along with three first places and three second places in the relay races.

Top Boy, Top Girl and Top Club Results

The club enjoyed outstanding success across the overall rankings. In the Top Male category, Harry finished in first place, followed by Sope in third and Lewes in seventh, giving Mansfield three swimmers inside the top ten. Albert also produced an excellent performance, securing fourth place in the Top Junior Male category.

The Top Female standings were equally impressive, with Fox taking first place, Isabelle second, Isla third, Charley sixth and Zara ninth, resulting in five Mansfield swimmers in the top ten. The Top Junior Female category was dominated by Mansfield, with Fox in first place, Isabelle in third, Amelia in fourth, Lily Rose in fifth and Ivy in sixth.

Mansfield also proudly secured the Top Visiting Club Award, finishing first with 703.5 points. Sutton followed with 668.5, Calv Bing with 565, Ripley with 530.5, Hucknall with 169.5, Arnold with 38, Kimberley with 28, Sherwood with 22, and Nottm Leander with 10.

Our relay teams also put on some very exciting performances in both the morning and afternoon sessions, securing three first and three second places! Unfortunately, some technical complications impacted on our relay successes - but each and every swimmer and supporter poolside showed what a fantastic team we are.

Club Records Broken

Three short course club records were broken during the meet. Fox set new records in the 10 year 100 Free and 100 IM, while Charley set a new record in the 11 year 100 Fly. Well done to both - a fantastic achievement!

A very busy meet like this simply cannot run without the dedication of our volunteers. A huge thank you goes to every helper, official, team manager, coach and parent who supported the swimmers throughout the day. Your hard work, patience and enthusiasm make events like this possible and we are incredibly grateful.
