Dean Anscombe Open Meet Success 🖤💛
Mansfield Swimming Club enjoyed a fantastic day at the Radford Dean Anscombe Open Meet on Sunday 1st March. The event holds a special place in the club calendar and it meant a great deal to have members of Dean Anscombe’s family present to support the swimmers and hand out medals. Their involvement added a warm and meaningful touch to the day.
A Strong Team Performance
Our squad of 32 swimmers gave everything from the first race to the last, completing 173 swims across the meet. Their hard work and determination were clear to see, with 65 personal bests recorded throughout the day. The team spirit was outstanding, with every swimmer contributing to a brilliant atmosphere.
Our Full Team
We were proudly represented on the day by Trinity, Amelia, Clarke, Nyla, Liam, Sophie, Matilda, William, Chloe, Fox, Henry, Charlotte, Jacob, Chloe, Kiera, Thea, Zara, Lily‑Rose, Elise, Jenson, Albert, Lyra, Katy, Harry, Maddy, Jacob, Jack, Max, Beau, Bonnie, Evie‑Mae and Georgiana each of whom played their part in an excellent all‑round squad performance.
A Birthday Weekend to Remember
We were also delighted to celebrate with Katy and Kiera, who both enjoyed their eighteenth birthday weekends with the team. Each of them marked the occasion by taking home medals, and the whole squad helped make their day feel special.
A Huge Medal Haul
This year’s meet awarded medals to the top 6 swimmers in every 50m event and the top 3 swimmers in every 100m event, and Mansfield swimmers rose to the challenge in style.
The club collected an impressive 108 medals:
22 gold
32 silver
14 bronze
12 fourth places
12 fifth places
16 sixth places
A total of 26 swimmers finished the day with at least one medal, showing the strength throughout the squad.
Top Male and Top Female
It was fantastic to see Harry recognised as Top Male and Fox as Top Female of the meet. These two have achieved the top awards together at several other competitions, including Major Oak, Hucknall and Allen Urch, and it was brilliant to see them both claim the honours again on such a meaningful day.
In the remainder of the Top Male and Top Female standings we had Liam (2nd), Maddy (3rd), Zara (5th) and Evie (8th) which shows just how well they performed on the day!
Every swimmer played their part in making this a hugely successful and memorable meet for Mansfield Swimming Club.
