Major Oak 2025 - 💙💛

The weekend of November 15th and 16th was one to remember for Mansfield Swimming Club as we hosted the Major Oak Open Meet. Over two action packed days, 63 MSC swimmers took to the water, producing outstanding performances and creating memories that will hopefully last a lifetime.

Across the meet, our swimmers completed 337 races, achieving an incredible 194 personal bests and bringing home a staggering 221 medals. In fact, 49 swimmers left with at least one medal, and 58 achieved either a PB or a medal – a true reflection of the hard work and commitment shown in training. The medal haul included 67 golds, 40 silvers, and 34 bronzes, alongside numerous strong finishes in the top six.

Skins Finals - Drama and Cash Prizes

The Skins events brought extra excitement to the weekend. Saturday saw the girls Skins finals, with Katy, Jess, Isla, Georgia, and Zara all earning their spots. On Sunday, it was the boys turn, and Lewes, Max, and Harry stepped up to the challenge.

Skins is split into two age groups, based on the fastest finishers in the 200IM. The age groups are 13 & under and 14 & over and our swimmers did us proud.

Georgia and Lewes both finished second in their respective finals, and every finalist earned a cash prize, adding an extra buzz to the celebrations!

Club Records and Top Performers

Special congratulations also go to Harry, crowned Top Boy, and Fox crowned Top Girl of the meet. They delivered across their heavy schedules landing 26 medals between them of which 23 were gold!

We were thrilled to see new club records set during the meet. Fox smashed four club records in the 100m freestyle, 200m backstroke, and both the 50m and 100m butterfly, while Katy added another record in the 50m breaststroke. These achievements underline the incredible progress being made by our swimmers.

We also had a number of swimmers competing for the first time, achieving first or new county qualification times and also new regional times!

A True Team Effort

Behind these incredible results is an army of volunteers who made the event possible – from timekeepers and officials to coaches and helpers on poolside. The success of the Major Oak Open Meet is a reflection of the whole club pulling together, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we achieved as a team.

This was more than just an open meet, it was a celebration of hard work, determination, and community spirit. Congratulations to every swimmer who took part – whether you won medals, hit PBs, or simply gave it your all, you made MSC proud.

Until next year! 👋
