The Championships were held over two consecutive weekends, beginning at Moorways Sports Village in Derby on 25 and 26 April, before moving to Corby from 2 to 4 May.
The opening weekend saw 9 Mansfield swimmers take to the pool, producing 27 swims, 8 finals and 12 personal bests. Charley and Noah both reached the final of the 200 butterfly. Layla reached the finals of both the 100 and 50 breaststroke, securing bronze in each. Fox reached finals in the 50 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 100 freestyle, winning gold in the 200 backstroke. Sope also reached the final in the 50 breaststroke. Zara, Katy, Harry and Georgia also put in wonderful performances over the first weekend.
Not even fallen pool tiles could stop our swimmers on the second weekend at Corby, with 8 Mansfield swimmers producing 35 swims and another 8 finals. Charley reached the finals of the 200 breaststroke and 100 butterfly, while Layla reached the final of the 200 breaststroke. Fox reached the finals in the 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, 200 individual medley and 50 backstroke, winning silver in the 100 back and 200IM and bronze in the 50 back. Isla, Zara, Harry, Georgia and Evie Mae also competed strongly throughout the weekend, with every swimmer achieving either a personal best, a final swim or both.
A wave of long course club records were also broken across both weekends, with Fox, Charley, Zara, Katy, Georgia all breaking long standing records. A massive well done to all swimmers! Qualifying for regionals is a huge achievement and you should all be very proud of your performances!
